Lipophobia is making things harder for all of us.
Our entire modern society revolves around it. It’s deeply embedded in your subconscious mind. You have a lipophobia mind virus that’s invasive and running in the background of your mental operating system. You don’t even know it’s there.
The effects of this programming on our emotions, thoughts, and health are huge.
This is Time2Thrive, a newsletter that helps people find simple ways to get healthier, eat with intention, and care for their bodies.

How I Saved My Body From Being a Worn Out, Middle Aged Sack Of Crap
Did you know that hitting the heart icon ❤️ or sharing this post makes it easier for people to find this newsletter? It also shows me that you appreciate my work!
What Even is Lipophobia?
Lipophobia: excessive and irrational fear of dietary fat or fatty foods.
I’m talking about that stealer of birthdays, the fear of cholesterol.
“But Tim! Cholesterol BAD! Mah doctor said so! I blindly do what mah doctor tells me, and he is super smart and would never, ever mislead me! See, he even gave me these yummy statins that are saving my life as we speak!”
Okay.
And.
What if, just maybe, you’re being led down the garden path? What if low-fat, low-calorie foods are terrible for you? What if doctors and drug companies are in on it with the food companies? What if they have put the fear of dog in you to get you to do what they want?
“Ridiculous, Tim! Doctors and pharmaceutical companies would never mislead me. What would they have to gain from keeping people sick? What an insane idea, that a corporation would put profit over the health of random people that it doesn’t care about. Corporations deeply care about doing the right thing, even if it means they don’t make a profit. That’s what big business is all about, the citizen's welfare.”
I think you get my point. You are the only person with your best interest in mind, so I ask you to consider this: Is cholesterol the enemy?
I Was A Victim of Anti-Fat Programming, Just Like You
This problem is pervasive. They got in our heads with their propaganda.
When I was at my lowest (and fattest), I had a lot of programmed beliefs about food. The biggest one of all, the granddaddy belief, was the fear of fat.
It didn’t stop me from eating it. It just made me feel shame every time I did.
I would pound those burgers and fries down my throat and then make up for it by starving myself and exercising. To get rid of the fat.
When I finally hit rock bottom and had no choice but to get healthy or kill myself, I signed up with a nutritional coach. My first appointment with her was in one week. So, I started on my own, trying to clean up my diet. I wanted to show her I meant business.
I got chicken breast, lettuce, low-calorie salad dressing, and broccoli. I baked the chicken breast with a little bit of seasonings, no fat.
I hated that food.
But I thought that low-fat, low-calorie meals were what I needed to do. Why? Because we are all programmed to do things like this.
During my first meeting with my new coach, she asked me what kinds of meals I was eating. I told her about the baked skinless chicken breast, the low-calorie salad dressing and lettuce, and the raw broccoli.
She folded her hands in front of her and leaned forward.
“Tim, I’m going to ask you a question, and I want you to think about this. Why do you think you need to eat chicken with the skin removed? And how about low-fat salad dressing or broccoli with nothing on it?”
“Well, fat is bad, right?”
“So far, this approach hasn’t worked for you, right? So how about we try something new? We won’t take things away from your diet at first. Instead, we are going to add protein. And I want you to have healthy fats with it. Chicken doesn’t have to be bland and dry. Even a little olive oil will change it up for you.”
There was more to our session, a lot more.
But during that conversation, I had an “Aha!” moment. Where did the idea that fat was bad come from? Was it just something I accepted from society without once thinking about it?
I remember the first time I saw cooked chicken with the skin removed. I was 8.
A neighbor lady had invited my mom and me over for lunch. Roasted chicken! It smelled great, and I was excited.
She put a casserole dish on the table and lifted the lid. Steam wafted out, and before our eyes was baked chicken. But something wasn’t right.
As the lady bustled around preparing, My mom saw the look in my eyes and said, “What’s wrong?”
“How come there’s no skin on it? And there are no drumsticks or anything.” I asked.
“Because the skin is bad for you. It will make you fat.” the lady said as she brought plain boiled potatoes and sliced white bread to the table.
I looked at her like she was insane. All of the best parts were missing. Why would you even eat the boring white chicken breast?
Who does that?
I was disappointed, and it showed. Kids aren’t good at burying their feelings since they haven’t been fully brainwashed yet.
I ate mostly potatoes and bread slathered in margarine. Butter was too dangerous, all that fat, you know.
Spreading lipophobia has caused much emotional anguish. Constant dieting, body image issues, eating disorders, depression, and even suicide. Messing with people’s mids is not a joke. And a lot of this was done to make a profit off of the unsuspecting public.
Healthy Fats Do Not Make You Fat!
Avoiding cholesterol and healthy fats makes your life shorter and puts you at risk of getting metabolic diseases. There’s plenty of evidence and research to back this up.
Healthy fats are an essential part of a balanced diet. We need it. Fats help you absorb fat-soluble vitamins, like vitamins A, D, and E. Our cell walls are made from up to 80% cholesterol. 20% of the body’s cholesterol is in the brain, even though the brain is only 2% to 3% of our total mass. We need those fats to build a healthy body.
Eating fat doesn’t make us gain weight. What can make us gain weight is a combination of what kinds and quantities of food we eat, high blood insulin levels, hormone balances, medications and toxins, and lack of activity.
Food companies and the government have pushed low-fat foods on us for decades. Most people eat these substances without even considering the consequences. They replace the fat with sugar, sweetener, emulsions, and various chemicals that give their concoctions flavor and creamy consistency—creamy without cream, which is a healthy fat, by the way.
They switched out healthy fats like olive oil, coconut oil, and animal fats for manufactured oils that destroy your metabolism. Seed and vegetable oils damage your body and lead to metabolic dysfunction when eaten in large amounts.
Low-fat yogurt. Low-fat ice cream. Low-fat coffee “creamer.” Low-fat salad dressing. Low-fat cereal.
We need to read the ingredients on these products and ask, “What does all of this stuff do inside of me?”
Think About What You Put in Your Body
Are you choosing your foods and medicines, or are you going along with the programming and just doing what corporations want you to do?
This isn’t about joining a new cult of “only eat this” or depriving yourself of the pleasures of life. This is about discernment.
According to vocabulary.com:
“Discernment is the ability to make a smart judgment about something. If you're voting for Student Council President, you need to use discernment to pick the best candidate. The noun discernment describes a wise way of judging between things, or a particularly perceptive way of seeing things.”
We need to start using discernment when it comes to food. It’s your responsibility to gatekeep what you put in your mouth, no one else’s.
When you’re shopping, look at the ingredients and use your discernment. Consider. Ask questions. And always err on the side of caution. Less ingredients is more better.
“What is Cholesterol? Do You Know What it Does in Our Body?
“Cholesterol is an ESSENTIAL molecule important to life. Every cell in our body requires it. It is a major structural molecule on which other substances are made. (bile acids, vitamin D, steroid hormones, sex hormones)
“It is naturally made in our bodies, yet doctors prescribe drugs to prevent its natural synthesis.”

Thank you so much for the shout out in your post. 🥰.
We are definitely going against the grain on the new narrative- don’t fear the fat!!! When I started my research on fat and cholesterol, I started connecting the dots that all the things we are now being medicated for can simply be reversed by eating more fat. Vitamin D, our hormones, brain health.
The chemical shit storm needs to be avoided at all cost.
What drives me crazy is how much many products in the supermarket still hold the hold claim of “low fat” (at least here in Germany), making people believe they buy the right thing.
Low sugar-you don’t find that.
Years ago I told my ex that fat won’t make you fat. I’m not sure if it was the break up or something else, but later she said: I searched around a bit on the internet and you’re right.
Fat will not make you fat.
