Hubby is finally slowing down and actually tasting the food he eats.
There is such a thing as too slow. My son was always a slow eater. By the time he finished bfast I was making lunch. He is too thin. He’s 27 and I’m relieved when he tells me he didn’t forget to eat. Meanwhile, I’ve been exploring going kosher. The energy around food, where it comes from, how the animals are slaughtered, thanking
G-d before the meal, etc add a spiritual element to eating that I’ve never considered.
I do know the odd individual who eats too slow. They are a rarity as far as I can tell! Some of them eat so slow because they can’t stop talking though, which is a different kind of mindlessness.
I’ve been slowing the food down for 1 week now. Already I am feeling fuller and enjoying the meals a lot more. Hard to believe I had never heard of this concept before, everyone always talks about what they eat, but not HOW they eat.
I really like this - thanks for the reminder. I often eat mindlessly when I'm watching a Netflix show while I'm eating. I try to do that as little as possible.
Thanks for the comment, Claudia! It’s difficult to NOT eat mindlessly while we watch streaming shows. I’m taking this seriously for a couple of weeks and I’m going to avoid being in front of a screen during meals.
Tim! I am so delighted that episode of Just One Thing resonated with you so much. Thank you for sharing your childhood eating stories too. I've always been a sloth slow eater to the point where I'd be embarrassed out at dinner with friends and everyone was still waiting for me to finish my starter before the mains would arrive. But now I realise it's actually a good thing. My Mum on the other hand is putting her cleared plate into the dishwasher before I've even had my second mouthful 😂
Our oldest son is sloth slow too, always has been. And now I find out that trying to hurry him up was counter-productive! Of course he’s out on his own now, so I imagine that mealtimes at his apartment last all evening.
All right! Imagine how that extra street cred will improve your life- thugs will jump out of your way, you'll have an advantage in any rap battles you enter, and you'll get easy access to all of the back rooms at after-hours clubs.
Haha James! It’s never too late to slow down! Savour the words of the next post you read very, very, very slowly. Get the mouth-feel of individual phrases. Don’t read them standing up by the kitchen sink or while driving. Put down the device between paragraphs and take a sip of water. Stop reading when your brain is full.
Great topic!

I’m doing it for the street cred!! (Great read! And so true!)

😂 Those rap battles are no joke!
Lovely article. Too bad I consume food as quickly as I read! Should have enjoyed this article more!
