I do many of these poses in the AM to save my back - I throw in some supermans too. If I have a week where I consistently miss my morning yoga, guess what? Lower back pain! It is such a magical and freeeeee tool.
It’s a rare day now that I don’t do it. It used to be that long car rides, long flights and long days at the office would ruin my happiness because my lower back would lock up in pain. Now? I can drive 5 hours straight without a break and get out slightly sore but ready to go. That airplane seat that I used to dread is just another seat, not a problem.
So I am really motivated to hit the mat every single morning. It just makes life suck so much less.
@Tim Ebl What a perfectly timed post for me. A few days ago, I saw Johnny Mathis in concert. For those of you who don't know who he is, Wikipedia claims he was the #3 top selling singer in the 20th century selling 300 million records. Anyway, he is now 88 and did a fine job of entertaining the audience and appears to be in great shape. However, his walk is stiff and I came home with three words: Back to YOGA! So I truly appreciate your post and tips for how to do a 90-day yoga challenge. Thank you!
You’re welcome! I know that yoga changed my life, and I want to drag as many people to their feet and onto their mats as possible. Instead of slumping in pain in the evenings, I put on some music and dance for a few ninutes. If my back still hurt, I wouldn’t even think of something like that.
Those are all core components of routines I love doing as well. I feel sorry for people who have never tried yoga. They have no idea what they're missing out on 😊
My back was always in pain before I lost a lot of weight. I still am technically overweight as it’s slowing down at this point but my back and knees no longer hurt 😊
I noticed the same thing when I lost a bunch of weight. But the main thing causing my back pain was tight muscles from stress, I think. And who isn’t stressed in our ridiculous modern world
You will get there and yes I’m quite mindful of old habits coming back. I’m also on Ozempic (diabetic) and it helps me look at food differently so it is a big help. But if I need to go off of it then I’d have to be extremely mindful

Pain-free is the ultimate motivation! I am trying to get my daughter to adopt the same routine…

Yes! If you take responsibility for your health instead of taking pills and hiring someone else to “fix” it, routines like this one can do wonders
Totally, a morning routine like this is a game changer!

That’s great!

Oh yeah that’s true as well. Stress causes heartburn for me though. No fun.
Good for you Miriam. Good work. I am way too fat right now and am working on it. Keep an eye out for slipping into old habits. Take good care.
