Thank you, Tim. I've been journaling a lot more in the last few weeks and found myself a lot more patient than I would've been if I hadn't been journaling. I imagine throwing more affirmations into the mix would 10x that phenomenon.

I think this works. I've tried it with a few gratitude sentences in my journal and it's made a difference for me. Sometimes the only thing I feel grateful for is the coffee I'm sipping.

If you can only find one thing, it’s better than no things!

What a fun and original post on affirmations! I do believe they are powerful, but the auditory form doesn't do it for me (reciting, repeating, etc.) I follow Henriette Anne Klauser's Write it Down Make it Happen: Knowing what you want and getting it! I notice that your games all included a written note. Thanks for sharing some great ideas!

Give them a try and let me know if any of them work for you! I’m not good at the auditory ones either.

I'm going to look this book up, thanks for mentioning it. I think there's something to be said about writing by hand and speaking out loud at the same time.

One more thing I can add is asking this question: How good can today get?

That’s a great question!

I love the idea of post-it notes posted everywhere!

My word of the year is reframe and using that word on post-it notes will serve as a great reminder to reframe some sucky situation and turn it into a positive affirmation. Thanks for the tip, Tim!

Reframe. That’s a good word.

I love reframe! It goes with everything.

Tim this is awesome! I have done the yellow sticky technique over the years but not in a way that surprised me. More of a plaster it on anything. I love this element of fun and surprise and am going to implement it.

One of the affirmations I use when I feel overwhelmed by too many tasks is simply ‘everything that needs to get done will get done’. It’s amazingly effective.

Great post!

I like your affirmation, I am going to add it to my list!

I have a similar saying, but I say it with exasperation. 🥴

Haha Claudette, mine is often said in desperate frustration as well. I’m rarely skipping around mindfully ticking things off my list. Oh no, by the time I call on this affirmation the wheels have usually fallen off the bus🤣

Now there's a term you don't see every day, if ever 😁 AFFIRMIFIED! I love it! Thanks for such a positive post Tim!

Affirmified is the word of the day haha

I love this! I used to do this for my kids when they were little. Why not for me as an adult?

Expand full comment

Yes! Everyone needs a little more surprise and play in their lives.

Love this! I do use affirmations - but surprising myself with them... what a FAB idea! I am going to try this!

Writing this post a while ago and then having someone comment on it like this on a Sunday morning so I find it before 6 AM is a great surprise too!

Tim, a friend brought me an affirmation she saved from a very small chocolate foil candy wrap: “Always make your past self jealous.”

Love it! It’s going on my list!

I've been using affirmations on and off for years, and I love your fresh take on it! Your favorite affirmation is great! I intend to take it for a spin! Thanks!
