Nice one Tim! I see #2 as being very close to the Stoic discipline of assent. We all get hit by impressions that cause an initial emotional reaction. However, we can then rationally decide whether to assent to that impression and continue with it, or not.
That makes sense from a stoic point of view. My take on it is based on my meditation practice and mindfulness. Watch the thoughts come, and then watch them go.
The string wall had me laughing and laughing is my main way to deal with stress. At the end of the day, is this little thing the biggest deal in this cosmic universe? Hell no. And yes, that then becomes funny to me.
Exercise and getting outside is another great way to clear the mind and to do something that has a goal attached to it.
Long walks with the dogs or fly fishing in my kayak or out in the middle of the river with my waders are the go-to moves.
Love everything about this list! Great tips on managing stress and when people can be so "peopley". Haha I love to dance with my dog, she gets all fired up from the music and we all just sort of run around the house. And she also loves to play wrestle, so she's like my best stress busting tool.
Haha I'll have to get on that string board...! Reminds me also of all those murder boards you see on TV.
It's great to be able to dance with your dog. But don't expect her to be much help with a string board. That's where diabolical cats really shine! They can take some time off from pushing things off of tables to plot with you.
Excellent points, as usual Tim! I especially love the container method. I have never really tried it the way you described and from now on it will be one of my go-to tools. Maybe I’ll use a stinky tuna fish can that I’ll toss in the messy recycling!
Flucking brilliant!! I do quite a few of these but I’m yet to try the string wall. Dancing alone is brilliant. Putting people in jars (in my imagination of course) is so satisfying. Thank you for making my day brighter!
I'm glad you got a bright spot out of this. Sounds like you need to get that string wall going and then put some people in jars! In your imagination, of course
That meme with the smoking lady on the paddle board...I've had that one saved in my phone for years and refer to it often.
I totally agree with dancing alone. A couple weeks ago I danced to motown tunes with my paint roller with I painted my living room. And my dog looked at me like I had 3 heads, which obviously made me laugh.

Yeah, the outdoors is one of my main stress relievers. More so in the spring/summer/fall, but I try to get outside in the winter too.
These are the best! Love dancing it off. I need to work on burning my containers 😅
Yes! And absolutely burn them. Don’t hang onto the containers, you won’t like what grows on that kind of leftovers.

Ahahaha! Indeed, I think I need some feline supervision for the string board project. 😸

Ha ha! That's perfect. Recycle all of the unwanted energy and save the environment.
Nothing like a good laugh to relieve that stress. A few F bombs work as well 🙊🙊
I agree! Although I'm careful with the F-bombs because they add stress to some people lol
I usually scream it when no one is around.

Omg I laughed at every paragraph in this one 🤣

Fabulous advice 👌
I don't smoke, but I have had a coffee on my paddleboard. There's nothing like paddling out on the water and letting your normal stressful stuff go.
I suspect I’d probably spill my coffee trying to stand up on a paddle board!
My cat is so confused when I dance. She never participates, just sits up high and looks at me like I’m nuts.
When I dance/exercise, Dezi sometimes comes to bite me or lick my face in total confusion 😁
You stay contributing to my laughing and learning
Glad to hear it! I live for the laughs
