When everyone started whitening their teeth a bunch of years back, dazzling white smiles seemed so artificial to me. Now we all expect to see pure white when someone smiles, and you're right. Coffee and tea do impact that.
I agree that coffee has the benefits you tout. You might be interested in looking back to my September 17 article on Bean to Bar with Athens’ Own Chef Peter Dale to find out why I stopped drinking coffee cold turkey that week and what I replaced it with. I’m sure I’ll have a follow-up article on that sometime.
Here it is for you and Tim. I’ll update later about where I source my new beverage, how I prepare it, and delicious anti-inflammatory herbs I add to it. Enjoy!
Some parts of North America, you can see people with their artificially neon-white teeth from 40 feet away. It's like they have lights inside their mouths. Scary unnatural if you ask me
I remember one time there were ultraviolet strobes at a concert or something and well, try to imagine Cheshire cat smiles hovering around...eerie white teeth+UV=modern creepy horror.
Here's the thing. I enjoy coffee and drink up to three cups prior to noon. But without equal or more amounts of water, my lady bits get all jittery (and that isn't necessarily a good thing), I feel dehydrated, and my digestive system gets disrupted... So, my habit is water first, then coffee. If I want another coffee (and I always do if it's prior to noon), then I drink a tall glass of water with lemon first. The only drawback to doubling up on coffee and water? You gotta stay close to the loo. :) So, if you know you're gonna get stuck in traffic, the water/coffee combo will have to wait. Just sayin'.
Yeah, there is a drawback to getting in too much coffee and finding time to hit the bathroom frequently. That's about the only thing that keeps me from drinking more.
Huh? What? Coffee makes you dehydrated?? lol gotta love the crap they toss around. One cup of Java, with nothing in it, black is all I need each morning and it’s only 5 measly calories that I can blink off. As you said it beats the sugary crap around.
That’s a really good reason to avoid the place, although supposedly there would be no need for a hot plate down there. But any coffee they made would be stale and burnt, with lots of grounds in it.
Big fan of coffee here. Been drinking it since my teens. When I served on submarines we basically subsisted on coffee. I usually drink two or three cups a day. Never bought into the dehydration fear mongering. I can tell when my body is dehydrated and coffee isn't the culprit.
The mugs, the mugs! Gorgeous. I drink from a full 32 oz. mug every morning. That's my cuppa. I'd love to drink it black and have tried many times, but jI ust can't do it. Allulose and monk fruit are my current sweeteners. I like you observation skill and look forward to more of your writing.
Thanks for the compliment! I loved those mugs too. My wife convinced me I already had plenty at home, though, and we didn’t have a checked bag to fit extra bulky items into. As it was I squeezed three pounds of organic coffee into my carry-on.
I learned about visceral fat in a documentary last week and it made me cringe wondering what my percentage is. I never knew all that was going on inside my intestines!
As for coffee, I LOVE it but stick to about 3 cups spread throughout a day. And my only added junk is chocolate almond milk. Probably sugar I don't need but I just need to take the edge off a little. And I love mocha flavors 😋
Some 2% milk in the coffee sounds splendid. I'll admit, I would probably drink EVEN MORE coffee except the bathroom breaks at work are hard to come by!
I drink both coffee and tea - I haven't had a problem except perhaps for the teeth - it discolors the teeth
Ok, you got me on that one.

I'll put it on my to-read list!
Cathy, could you paste a link here? I'm interested in reading that but genuinely too lazy to scroll 🤣

I’m picturing it- surreal!

5 calories, its a bargain!
Can’t go wrong with that. I never drink my calories unless it’s a protein drink for a quick snack.
I love my morning coffee! Interesting read and well said Tim!!
Biggest reason I am not going to hell: they don't serve coffee.

Thank you for inspiring my today's article:

I’m super stoked that you wrote this, and mentioned me in it. I am honored.
Staying warm in my cabin with endless cups of coffee.
Glad to hear it!
Daily coffee drinker here and have often said that the delight it gives me is worth whatever supposed cost there could be.
I would agree!

I've spent years working outside in the hot sun. I never worried about getting dehydrated from coffee in the morning, only from sweating.

I need my coffee, but drink only half-caf. I put in 2% milk. I don't drink herbal tree at work though because sitting and coffee don't mix well.

Thanks Nicole!
It’s the triple-triple you gotta watch out for. Everything in moderation
