I laughed most of the way through this because I totally felt your exasperation. I've been in that camp for many years because even before Substack, that's what everyone on Medium was writing about. Writing about writing and how to make money writing. It's ENOUGH!

Oh and, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!! I love your stuff and no matter what you're writing about it always makes me giggle or laugh 😁

Thanks for the encouragement!

Those Medium money-makers followed us over here. Oh well.

Happy Anniversary Tim! Yes to all of this, I love it.

I'm not sure what I'd like to see more of but I think it's very helpful for folks to know what to DO when they are just starting out to change their lifestyle. What does breakfast look like, what about the cravings, how do I walk if I can't go more than 100 steps. The very basics are often overlooked when folks are further along the path.

Thanks for your great work.

Donna, those are all good suggestions. Back to basics it is! Thank you for your well thought out comment.

Congratulations, Tim! I think you do a bang up job of sharing excellent, documented information on how to either become, or remain, healthy. It's all about the quality of life and good food and exercise are the best way to maintain it. Thanks for all of you do!

Congrats Tim. I enjoy reading your content. I do write about tarot and writing but that’s the extent of it on my main newsletter with week ahead readings on Sundays but on my other newsletter I basically write what is on my mind.

Tim, I totally agree with you on this as it appears most people do.

What I don't understand is how someone can get a nutritional certification and call themselves a life coach.

I've heard of people charge an astronomical amounts of money and people are paying them... It's crazy! 😳

I do what I do because of my almost 30 years experience in the sick care industry and it was very difficult being in it. I worked mainly intensive care units and other things I won't go into here, but also was using holistic practices at the same time.

We might share the same beliefs in this, I don't know because I actually just found you as I'm fairly new here, however I say "make it affordable" so that people can actually get the help they need.

And really it's not about doing it for them. It's about offering them the different tools and guide them in caring for themselves because the sick care cartel industry is failing us and at some point only the elites will get any care at all l. who wants that care anyway?

I have seen so much crap. You have no ideaa- had to stop cardiologist from. shocking my patient out of normal sinus rhythm and the Cardiologist was saying, "no they're in Afib". I'm like no they are not. We're looking at the same monitor and the same 12 lead EKG- these people are incompetent. It's scary 😱

And getting a certification and then not even bring able to manage one's own life - how can they help someone else?

Only those of us who have walked through the fire, swam through the floods and stood strong in the tumultuous winds can šŸ’Ŗ

Thank you for what you do and I'm really glad that I found you and connected.

Hope you enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday season with your family and friends.

Blessings to everyone šŸ™

I agree, make it affordable. I’m hoping free information and low cost accountability help will be the nudge that some people can use to help themselves a bit.

As far as inexperienced new life coaches go, I guess they will get some on-the-job training. But the price should reflect that. There will definitely be coaches that can justify high fees, and there are people that can pay it.

That’s scary thinking about the health care professionals that are incompetent, although I know there are plenty of good ones too.

My husband laughs when I tell him about all the Substack accounts dedicated to (writing about writing). He hasn’t even read them and his first response was ā€œsounds like a Ponzi scheme.ā€

While some can certainly be helpful, it seems to be the overwhelming amount of accounts here so it definitely gets frustrating when you write a newsletter about a different topic- sports, healthy eating, relationships, mindset (Or like me, triathlon!) and you don’t see anywhere close to the same growth.

I mean Substack is a community of writers wanting people to read their own writing, so it’s a gold mine…

Yes- whenever there’s a market, product will appear to fill it. I just don’t understand how people can feel good about taking part in writing empty fluff

First of all,

congratulations on the anniversary! I love reading your content every week and I value it commented under my posts.

This week, you’re addressing something which I resonate 100 % with.

People writing about how to write, building an online business around how to build an online business.

I still find myself reading this stuff, but much like you I find it boring and ask myself what is the actual skill.

Looking forward to your future articles. I know we also still have the option to write a guest post for instance.
